Getting Here:

New York State Thruway to Exit 19 Kingston. At the traffic circle, bear right onto Route 28 West, Woodstock. Take it about 5 miles, and at the third traffic light, turn right onto Levon Helm Memorial Blvd (How cool is that?!) formerly known as Route 375. Take it to the end, turn left at the T, and come to the coolest little small town in America. Parking can be a challenge – blue public parking signs are posted on the right, just past 17 Mill Hill Road and will lead you to a lot behind the main street (officially, the drag is called Mill Hill Road, and right after the green it becomes Tinker Street).  Stroll into town and watch the happenings unfold.

The Green: [Read More]

The Green is the heart of town. While it’s often home to protests and drumming sessions throughout the year on Halloween it’s ground zero for fun. About 4 p.m. or so, people of all ages start gathering. Costumes ranging from the absurd to the zombie are in the spotlight. Creativity abounds and while adjacent merchants freely distribute candy, the fun-loving review stand in front of the church is the must pass locale. This event puts a fashion-show runway to shame. No store-bought flappers here. Home-made elaborate costumes, from melting glaciers to double-decker buses, have been known to grace the parade route. This trick or treating is people-watching at its finest and we promise – this will indeed be one, long strange trip you won’t forget.
