Description:

There are so many things to do and events going on during holiday season, but in Ann Arbor it seems to begin when Handel’s Messiah is performed at Hill Auditorium.  This Ann Arbor tradition connects audiences with friends and family who attend each year in a true community tradition.  The performance features the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, the 175 voices of the Grammy Award-winning University Musical Society Choral Union (2006 Best Choral Performance), and conductor Jerry Blackstone.  Soloists featured are Colin Ainsworth – tenor, David Pittsinger – bass-baritone, Edward Parmentier – harpsichord, Scott Van Ornum – organ, Janai Brugger – soprano, and David Daniels – countertenor.

We know you will want to experience the vocal excellence of Handel’s Messiah performed in Hill Auditorium, where the acoustics are unmatched – a performance that will be unforgettable.  There is a Saturday performance, December 6 at 8 PM, and a Sunday performance, December 7 at 2 PM.  For ticket information and pricing, go to the website.

From the Author: I have had the pleasure of experiencing this performance several times over the years and the Hallelujah Chorus always takes my breath away. The quality of the musicians, soloists and chorus is just perfection.
