The Lake Superior Marine Museum Association presents its 26th annual Gales of November in various locations in historic Canal Park in Duluth Minnesota on November 1st and 2nd, 2013. This organization was founded in 1973 to preserve and celebrate Duluth’s and Lake Superior’s maritime history.
The conference includes keynote speakers, a trade show, an exciting silent auction, more special events and the Association’s annual meeting. From the Author: In 1975 the Edmund Fitzgerald sunk in one of the deadliest storms on Lake Superior. We were just moving to Duluth that month and were house shopping the weekend after the Fitzgerald was lost. I remember the eerie color of the lake being reddish-brown from all the wind and storm surge. Not long after we joined the Duluth Newcomers Club, I met women who had lost their husbands on that fateful night.
