Into the sunrise sails the newest attraction for Williamsburg, Virginia. Under the motto “Let’s Go Sail,” a seasoned US Coast Guard captain runs a modern 32-foot sloop every day at 10:30 and 2:00 for families and groups of up to six people.
This Adventure Cruise is for those who want to party or contemplate the beauty of the York River countryside. Observe how an occasional US Navy ship transits Tidewater’s largest bridge. With a little luck, you can see dolphins frolic in pods of up to 20.
History buffs can appreciate the Battle of Yorktown as it shaped up in 1781 from the viewpoint of the water. Learn how a “hot shot” sunk a major British warship off the town coast. See the very spot that was the turning point of the battle, and thus the War for Independence.
The crew is encouraged to take the wheel and learn the dynamics of sailing. It’s fun, it’s easy! Bring a picnic lunch and a cooler of drinks. The skipper has ice and bottled water on-board, gratis.
At this time, fall rates are in effect, the cost is $300 for groups, $250 for families and $130 for couples, for a 3 hour tour (Really? Any one over 35 is now laughing) so take advantage of the off season rates.
I have talked with so many visitors to our area who said that this adventure absolutely made their vacation. What are you waiting for?
