The brain child of Vesuvio Trattoria is none other than Rich Pepe.  Local Chef, restaurant, bakery & winery owner, Pepe grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey, where is father grew up with his friend, Frank Sinatra.   Pepe’s grandparents emigrated from the Southern Italy area known as Campania; where Mt. Vesuvius, the ancient volcano, buried Pompeii.  Pepe traveled back to the Campania region many times in his formative years, learning the cooking methods of his family, thus creating the flavors of Vesuvio.

Open nightly for happy hour at 4:00 p.m., and dinner service until 11:00 p.m., the menu offers something for everyone.  The menu offers everything from a Mozarella or Carpaccio Bar to luscious Antipasti & Fritti Fritti’s, the Pizzas, Pastas, Cioppino & Veal Scalliopine, Angus steaks, Salmon, Sea Bass & Halibut.  Vesuvio has two lounges, one inside the main restaurant and one on top of the outdoor roof patio; perfect for happy hour gatherings and after dinner night caps. Master mixologist Christian Pèpe has created many signature cocktails using house-infused spirits.

From the Author: Rich Pepe is quite the local personality. A great business man and a very hands on owner, juggling 3 restaurants, 2 in Carmel and 1 in Pebble Beach, a Carmel bakery and wine tasting room. Needless to say, he has a wonderful wife Sandra beside him. Together they give back to the community tirelessly, Rich even ran for Mayor, selling his home in Pebble Beach and moving to Carmel by the Sea.
