Sylvia Petersheim’s Quilt & Craft shop is located along a main drag in Bird-in-Hand (340), in a brick house set perpendicular to the road.  The house’s inviting front porch makes the perfect display for her gorgeous quilts.  You may miss her sign along the road, but you won’t miss the quilts!  Sylvia’s is open from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm daily, closed Sundays.

The quilt shop is in the lower level of the property and there are two large rooms that have large (bed-sized) tables that are stacked high with quilts.  In addition, the walls showcase various wall hangings, quillows and other crafts.

With the help of staff, you can look through each quilt in turn.  It’s a wonderful process, you turn down the quilt to reveal the next pattern.  She tells you what it is (tumbling blocks, cathedral window, trip around the world, sampler… and combinations, the possibilities are endless!).  If you see a quilt you like it can be set aside to compare to the next one that catches your eye.

The staff is VERY helpful, the quality and variety of the quilts you have to choose from is terrific.  If you don’t find something you like, or have a specific design in mind, they can even custom make it for you!
