Sitting directly on Barnstable Harbor next door to where the Hyannis Whale Watcher Cruises depart, Mattakeese Wharf is one of very few restaurants directly waterfront on Cape Cod. Serving lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch, this is the go to restaurant to see a spectacular sunset over Cape Cod Bay.

Serving seasonally from mid-May through mid-October, the restaurant derives its name from an Algonquin Indian word loosely translated as “fields by the water”. Although the dining rooms are not air conditioned, a lovely breeze blows in through the ample windows and ceiling fans circulate ocean air.

Traditional seafood entrees are standard fare here, but landlubbers can get a decent burger or steak as well. The bar is always jumping and on weekends live music lends a festive atmosphere.
