Sharon Rowe

Sharon RoweLocation: Denver, Colorado

Since: 1981 (born and raised in Detroit, Michigan)

Age Group: 46-59

Favorite Restaurant:  It’s hard to choose in a city like Denver with so many great places to eat, but for creatively prepared and locally sourced (when possible) food crafted by Teri Ripetto &  an informed wine experience with bartender Jerry packaged with a fun vibe, and walkability from my downtown condo, I would have to say Potager.

Favorite Movie?  How can you not love Waking Ned Devine.

Pets?  We have dearly loved the 3 cats that graced our lives over a span of 25 years:  Mandy, Art, and Katie.  But sadly, they are no longer with us and we have elected to remain empty nesters.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?  Urban walks and bike rides around Denver, golfing at the great Denver municipal courses, reading, knitting, weaving, and cooking.  I guess that’s more than one favorite thing, but I think I have all my bases covered for seasonal options!

Favorite Season?  I am a 4-season girl, but I particularly love Fall: for me, it conjures up memories of new shoes, a fresh box of crayons, meeting a new teacher, trips to the local cider mill, and looking forward to my October birthday.

If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?  Pay off the mortgage of everyone in my family, build a cabin on the little mountain property we have, and travel 6 months out of the year with my husband.  I don’t see myself ever not working at something, maybe it would be more volunteer based.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?  Play the piano, and be able to play at least six songs from memory with ease.

If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?  When there is a planet Earth with no war, hunger, or strife.

Which celebrity do you get mistaken for?  Ha!   In my dreams it would be Meg Ryan as she appeared in You’ve Got Mail.

Where do you work? Acorn Internet Services, Inc.

What is your title? Professional Client Services Manager

How long have you worked there? Since 2005

What do you love most about your Job?  Working with and teaching innkeepers and small business owners, helping them navigate the crazy world of internet marketing.

What is your Experience and Background in the Travel Industry?  I owned and operated a bed and breakfast for nearly 10 years in the small tourism-based town of Salida Colorado.  During that time I served on the Bed & Breakfast Innkeepers of Colorado board for 5 years, as well as the Salida Chamber of Commerce board for 2 years.  In this smaller community, I gained a great deal of experience in working with the County Visitors Bureau, and other very knowledgeable small business owners as we worked collaboratively to attract tourism dollars to our community and individual businesses.  Traveling extensively over the years with my husband, both domestically and internationally I think also contributed to my perceptions of the travel industry.
