Description:

Come to Sugarcreek, Ohio for the 62nd annual Ohio Swiss Festival . Back in 1953 the 1st Swiss Cheese Festival originated to promote the Swiss cheese industry and the Village of Sugarcreek.   Sugarcreek   recognized as the Swiss Cheese capitol in Ohio, 5 Swiss cheese factories  and leader of Swiss cheese production in the country.  With that in mind the festival continues yearly and brings visitors from around Ohio and beyond.  Come join the Swiss population  two days of fun and entertainment along with, of course Swiss Cheese!

During the festival one will enjoy a Grand Parade with Swiss themed floats.  Food galore and with a Swiss influence includes: wine and cheese tasting, bratwurst and sauerkraut and home style barbecued chicken which is finger lick-en good.  Swiss cheese can be purchased by the pound so bring your coolers.  For all you dessert lovers out there, the First Mennonite Church tent is the place to go for yummy home-made apple fritters.  Area cheese makers compete for the Grand Champion Cheese-maker of the year.

Continuous free entertainment is found at the festival.  Dancing to top polka bands is always a hit. Two parades, kiddie and grand parade, a 5K and 10K race, rides, entertainment and the crowning of Swiss Festival Queen are popular events.  You will not want to miss the Steinstossen, a swiss sport of stone throwing.  Additional information can be found on the festival web-site.

When looking for a place to stay kindly consider The Garver House Bed and Breakfast in nearby Strasburg.
