Description:

Love, Loss, and Summer Life: Conversations with authors Gae Polisner and Huntley Fitzpatrick is a special once in a lifetime chance to visit Falmouth, Cape Cod and hear from these two great authors on July 11th, 2014 from 3-4pm. This special event will be held at Eight Cousins bookstore on Main Street in Falmouth Village. YA authors Gae Polisner and Huntely Fitzpatrick will discuss their new books The Summer of Letting Go (Polisner) and What I Thought Was True (Fitzpatrick). The discussion will include brief readings about the themes of love, loss, and summer life, and the event will be moderated by Eight Cousins employees Sara Hines and Greg Dunn. Following the readings the authors will be on hand to sign purchases of their books.

‘The Summer of Letting Go’ is Gae’s second novel building on success of her first novel ‘The Pull of Gravity’. This book is aimed at the teen market, however it is a touching and beautiful story that can be enjoyed by readers of all ages. To provide a little synopsis – The main character, Francesca Schnell, is trying to deal with the death of her brother Simon four years ago when Francesca was the one who should have been watching. Francesca is struggling at best and believes her father may be having an affair so she follows him to the local country club. While there she meets four-year-old Frankie Sky, a little boy who bears an almost eerie resemblance to Simon, and Francesca begins to wonder if it’s possible that Frankie could be Simon’s reincarnation.

‘What I Thought Was True’ is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Huntley Fitpatrick’s ‘My Life Next Door’. It is a summer romance where you see sparks fly with 17 year old Gwen Castle and the “yard boy” Cassidy Somers. They have very different lives with Cassidy being the rich kid from across the bridge in Stony Bay and Gwen from a Nantucket type island family of fishermen and house cleaners.
