Description:

On Thursday, October 9, 2014, from 6:30-9:00 p.m., the Friends of Waterloo Village will sponsor its 4th annual Harvest Moon Festival for the benefit of Waterloo Village. This is an opportunity for friends to get together for a fun-filled evening of food and wine sampling and a silent auction.

The representation of local restaurants will be impressive. Back again for their fourth consecutive year will be Bell’s Mansion, Salt, the Black Forest Inn and Bella Italia. The dessert tent is sure to be a knockout with the return of Cliff’s Ice Cream, Cafe Pierrot and the culinary arts students of Sussex County Vo-Tech. The big coup of the evening is food sampling from Jeffrey Miller Catering.

Waterloo Village is an authentic 19th century canal town. What made it special was being approximately the half-way point in the 102-mile trip along the Morris Canal, which ran from Jersey City to Phillipsburg, New Jersey. Because of its unique mid-point location, accommodations for the canal operation included an inn, general store, church, blacksmith shop and watermill.

Waterloo Village is now under the auspices of the state Department of Environmental Protection, Division of Parks and Forestry. Proceeds from the festival will be used to make structural repairs and re-roof buildings. Preserving this important part of New Jersey history is the mission of Friends of Waterloo Village.

Tickets go on sale August 9th, and are $40 each or two for $70.
