Description:

The 24th anniversary of the Art for Earth Day Gallery Hop happens on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Duluth, Minnesota at various galleries that offer free receptions. This special Earth Day week event provides folks an opportunity to visit many art galleries and take in live demonstrations, clothing, art, sculpture, and more.

Nine galleries are participating this year and strive to make this event better than the last. The Duluth Art Institute is located at 506 West Michigan Street in the historic Depot museum. Waters of Superior in Canal Park features stone sculptures, painting, photography and crystalline porcelain. The Art Dock in the Dewitt Seitz Marketplace in Canal Park will show work from artists that appreciate the earth and Northland environmental issues. The Sivertson Gallery on Canal Park Drive show will consist of prints of animals, allegories and other things! Lake Superior Art Glass at 202 East Superior Street will feature glass art from regional artists and provide ongoing glass blowing demonstrations. Art in the Alley Boutique and Home at 230 East Superior Street features one-of-a-kind original clothing items with live models. Lizzards Art Gallery and Framing at 11 West Superior Street will show ocean and beach watercolors. The Woodland Art Gallery at 28 West First Street will be exhibiting feather flowers, pottery, bead work and “bling” jewelry. The Tweed Museum of Art at the University of Minnesota Duluth, 1202 Ordean Court has a selection of 19th and early 20th century landscape paintings from their George P. Tweed Memorial Collection. The Phantom Galleries in Superior, Wisconsin (just across the bridge) will offer a guided walking tour of three galleries in empty storefronts and an artist reception for the event.
