Located just off the main drag of the historic downtown Placerville, the Independent Restaurant & Bar is casual dining at its best. The small dining room sits about thirty comfortably. Tables are arranged together for groups. The full bar is the only place in the establishment where there is a TV. When you enjoying dinner or lunch you are not bombarded with the TV sports shows.
The menu is varied and has a good selections of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and some entrees for lunch. Dinner entree choices are extensive, with a wide selection of appetizers and salads. Of course both menus have a good selection of desserts. The bulk of the prices for any of the item is in the $10-12 range.
The bar has a great selection of the full compliment of adult beverages. Most of their wines are Sierra Foothill wines from Amador, El Dorado and Calaveras Counties. The service for both the bar and the dining room and patio surpasses any in Placerville.
From the Author: Lucinda & I enjoy the Independent, especially the patio. There are two small water fountains that helps cover the street noise, though that is little. Our professional group just had our annual social gathering there the middle of January 2014. They treated us like royalty. We do deserve to be treated that way so it was nice.
