Description:
Chestertown, Maryland has a fantastic used book store hiding in plain view. The Bookplate has been around for a decade or so and offers a selection of books on almost anything one could possibly be looking for, including out of print treasures. Some of their specialties are maritime history, sailing and all sorts of tales of the sea.
One can also find a great selection of books on world history, politics, art, architecture, poetry, children’s books, gardening, the classics and the list goes on. A 60’s cook book anyone? No problem, they’ve got them!
The Bookplate is host to the hugely successful annual Kent County Poetry Festival held in the spring, co-sponsored with the Kent County Arts Council and Washington College. They carry the complete collection of Robbi Behr’s and Matthew Swanson’s funĀ “Idiots’Books” books, prints and posters.
This book store is well worth a detour to Chestertown on Maryland’s beautiful Eastern Shore.
From the Author: If you are in the Chestertown area this is a great place to stop and check out the huge selection of interesting books. A friend of mine found an out of print book on maritime history he had been looking for for many years. Needless to say he was one happy guy. I never leave the Bookplate empty handed. They are conveniently located in the historic shopping district.
