Skipper’s is a waterfront dining experience not to be missed. You won’t find better seafood anywhere on the coast. The menu includes shrimp, crab, scallops, flounder and more. Now, if your diet tends more towards that of the land lubber, slow roasted barbecue cooked fresh on site daily is waiting for you. With Skipper’s location right on Historic Darien’s docks you’ll be able to watch the shrimp boats unload their catch.
Dining facilities include a fully enclosed restaurant on one side of the patio area or choose the open air Oyster and ‘Rah’ Bar just up the steps. Kids love watching the fish and turtles in the patio pond. Here atmosphere is as plentiful as the food. Ever dine with an eight foot alligator hanging on the wall? Besides the gator and fishing paraphernalia the décor includes historic and modern day pictures of old Darien and Shrimp boats decked out for parade during the annual Blessing of the Fleet.
What’s Skipper’s secret to having the best seafood? It’s as plain as all those shrimp boats tied up at the docks. It’s Fresh and cooked by locals who know their seafood. Just so you know not all southerners fry their seafood. You can get your dinner broiled, blackened or grilled and of course fried
From the Author: After eating I like to stroll Skipper's docks along the Darien River. This is the perfect spot to watch the sunset and often a great photo opportunity. Depending on the season dolphin, gators or even a manatee can be sighted. Looking for more excitement? Visit the Oyster Bar any Wednesday night and enjoy live music. On Sunday afternoons join the locals in a Corn Hole tournament right on Skipper's deck.
