Description:

Mary & Greg Kemp have made the Gold Vine Grill a favorite stop for both Fair Play Wine Appellation visitors and us locals. Located at the “Four Way Stop”, it is easy to find. As you step into this hidden gem in Somerset you feel right at home immediately. The friendly service staff will seat you and make your visit a wonderful experience. The wine bar seats eight and is filled probably more often then the tables. Speaking of wines, Mary has a huge wine selection of local Fair Play, El Dorado County and Sierra Foothill wines. All the wines fit comfortably with the menu. The Gold Vine Grill menu is loaded with appetizers, entrees and desserts. With the selection available you can have a couple appetizers and still get satisfied or you can opt for an entree. There are a couple items Chef Greg has become famous for, his calamari appetizer, grilled artichoke appetizer and his bread pudding.  The rest of their menu is a nice selection of salmon, steak, pasta, sandwiches, of course Burgers, and a good variety of salads. When you want a lunch or dinner the Gold Vine Grill is “THE PLACE”. Open for lunches Friday thru Sunday  11-3 and Dinners are Wednesday thru Sunday starting at 5:00 until 9:00pm. There is a “siesta period” from 3-5 for the dining room; this allows them time to switch from all the lunch activities to dinner. The wine & appetizer bar is still open during siesta time for your wine & snack pleasure.

From the Author: For years Lucinda & I have enjoyed lunches and dinners at Gold Vine. We locals say either Gold Vine or The Grill. Seldom do we say the full proper name. Of course we say at the 'Four Way Stop" when we give directions. That stop sign is the only four way stop sign for over 15 miles in all directions. Gold Vine has been a proven winner. Since we opened our business 10 years ago, there has been a couple other eateries located there. With the right mix of an excellent menu filled with things the locals like and great service and modest pricing, the Grill found the proper blend for success. As with most businesses in locations that heavily depend on out of the area visitors, the locals who frequent that business are the bread & butter for that business. The Grill loves their bread & butter as much as we love the Grill.
