Description:

Carson’s is a truly unique shop located in the heart of Lancaster County, right along 322/Division Highway.  They’re open daily from 10 – 5, closed Wednesday and Sunday.

The shop is vaguely divided into sections:  Garden, Shabby-Chique, Painted furniture, Signs, Antiques, Architectural Antiques, and so on.  I love the items that they transform from what they call “junque” into unique decor items and furniture… made in an on-sight workshop.

Carson’s is basically a big barn with all sorts of great items staged both inside and out.  The second I walked inside I knew I’d found a real gem.  The combination of traditional “primitive” items was great, but you could tell the majority of the items they sell are completely unique, created by someone with some amazing vision for turning every-day items into something new and giving “junk” a new purpose.

One of my favorite items for sale was a collection of “Shutters” that had been turned into coat racks.  The shutter was hung horizontally and painted fun colors.  Then phrases were added like “Faith”, “Family”, “Love” (you get the idea)… but the words were made out of different types of HARDWARE, making the completely different than anything I’d seen before and REALLY cute!

Carson’s also has all kinds of signs with unique sayings hand-painted on.  You see these things everywhere, but the sayings that Carson’s displayed were often ones I hadn’t seen before, and the painting was unique.

I highly recommend this shop both for gifts and for your own home decorating.  Also, if you’re crafty yourself, you can get the “raw supplies” for your projects here… in addition to possibly getting some inspiration!
