Description:

The Bent Paddle Brewing Company was created by four individuals–two married couples–who love paddling a canoe in the North Country, have extensive brewing skills and business experience, and know that great water makes great beer! They all have a love for the Duluth community and they opened the brewery and tap room in West Duluth in May of 2013. Their goal is to craft beer that “bends tradition” of the classic style they represent.

The story of the bent paddle is that Brewer Byron used a bent shaft canoe paddle to mix his brewing mash at his former job at the Rock Bottom Brewery in Minneapolis and on the last day of his job there the paddle broke in half. This seemed to be the end of his Rock Bottom job and the beginning of the Bent Paddle Brewing Company!

The 10,600 square foot building in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth Minnesota includes a 30 barrel brew house and 60 barrel fermenters and a tap room where you can enjoy growlers or beers by the glass, gift cards and Bent Paddle merchandise. The tap room is open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and when the tap room is closed, you can visit neighborhood restaurants, bars and lounges that offer Bent Paddle Brewing Company beer. The website also lists Brewsana Yoga classes offered on site!

Tours of the brewery are scheduled on Saturdays at noon with preregistration required on their web site and are limited to 30 people with six people to a group. Tours are free but everyone is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank.
