Description:
Hartley Nature Center is located in Duluth’s 660-acre island of wilderness in Hartley Park very close to UMD and Hawk Ridge.
This nature center provides opportunities for hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, bird watching, canoeing, trout fishing, mountain biking, trail walking and includes interactive exhibits, a green building tour and native wildflower gardens. The green building was completed in 2003 and hosts over 30,000 visitors each year. Great efforts were made to conserve energy, minimize toxins and use recycled materials when this beautiful building was designed. This nature learning center is full of taxidermy animals, interesting classrooms, fish and animal display tanks and all the equipment needed for exploring nature along with knowledgeable staff.
You feel “Mother Nature” at its best at this nurturing center.
