Description:

Nothing says summer in Seattle to me more than an evening on the lawn at the Woodland Park Zoo, a picnic blanket, a picnic, your best buddy sitting next to you and the sounds of music coming over the meadow.

Seattle has a great Zoo and attendance at Zoo Tunes is one way to support the Zoo and have a great evening out. I start looking for the lineup in April when tickets go on sale. This was the 30th year of Zoo Tunes and featured 11 concerts this year from June 23-August 23, generally on a Sunday or Wed eve. This year Brandi Carlisle closed out her summer tour on the meadow at the zoo! How awesome is that!

While Brandi was sold out, there were still folks selling tickets ( for their cost) at the entrance. See, sometimes us Seattlites get so excited about Zoo tunes that we buy lots of tickets to a variety of zoo tune concerts and then something comes up and we find ourselves with a spare ticket, to give or sell at the last minute.

You can bring your own food in although they sell it there as well, and no booze but if you want a glass of wine/beer there are a couple of beer garden areas. There is plenty of picnic time before the show starts. This is also a totally kid friendly environment as well and most of the performers acknowledge that, but while we are here for a social event, the meadow gets quiet when the music starts, it is after all called, ZOO Tunes!

From the Author: Zoo tunes is summer in Seattle at its finest! Great music, beautiful meadow, supports the Zoo. I've been making it a summer tradition for over 20 years. It is just not summer in Seattle without attending a Zoo tunes concert. Tickets are almost always available from someone at the door.
