Description:

All summer long is the perfect time to visit Laguna Beach, CA and walk  the Heisler Park walkway on the cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Crescent Beach is a large cove north up the shoreline from Heisler Park. At Cliff Dr, parallel to the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), you get down to the beach from several vantage points. Once on the beach you will be in awe of the shoreline and rock formations. One such rock out cropping is called Seal Rock, about 100 yards out from shore. That is the resting place for the seals, seagulls and pelicans that call this stretch of the coast home.

The rocky beach also has great little pools full of life everyone can enjoy. The TIDE POOLS offer a glimpse at a wondrous variety of sea life: urchins, crabs, octopus,  sea anemones that close up into shell-camouflaged blobs, sea hares, red urchins, sea cucumber and many others. The warm waters create the tide pools between low tide and high tide. The water is the warmest and the weather is perfect in the summer.

Normally a marine layer covers the beach until about 11:00am. It’s good to be there before 11:00am for two reasons: 1) the sun is not beating down and getting too hot and 2) the crowds are not yet at the beach. Crescent Beach is just one of many beautiful beaches for tide pooling along the Laguna Beach coastline.

From the Author: Laguna Beach is one of the most beautiful seaside towns in the world for many reasons. It is the reason Lucinda and I call Laguna Beach our second home in Southern California. When we lived close to South Coast Plaza for nine+ years we were at the beach regularly. We arrived early and left early, before the crowds showed up. One Thanksgiving we even enjoyed our holiday feast at Heisler Park over looking the magnificent shoreline. As we walked the walkway above the cliff at the beach, we talked about making our B&B the best place possible. We envisioned having Lucinda's Country Inn with a room reminiscent of the color and fun of Laguna Beach. So when we built our B&B in the Fair Play Wine County in Northern California we included those features in one of the two main floor suites. We call that suite the Laguna Suite because it is decorated with pictures and colors of Laguna Beach.
