Description:
Provincetown’s own open-air farmer’s market has been a local and tourist favorite for eight seasons now. Every Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM along Ryder Street (next to Town Hall), the market features a variety of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, and artisanal foods like local jam.
From just over the bridge in Dartmouth, Silverbrook Farm’s Andy Pollock spearheads Provincetown’s weekly market, and finds that the new location (the market used to be in the Ryder Street parking lot, tucked away from Commercial) has already increased business. Further, being right off of Commercial Street adds a more community and villiage-like feel, Pollock says.
Silverbrook has been providing fresh produce since the market’s inception, but new farm stands have opened up, too. Allen Farms features certified organic produce, such as delicious microgreens and Thai basil. Eldredge Farms (from Brewster) just recently joined the market, offering a colorful palette of both classic and unusual flowers.
Beyond produce and flora, it’s almost impossible to leave the farmer’s market without a bag of kettle corn from Centerville’s Cape Cod Kettle Corn (watch the popcorn made in fresh batches on-site), or a delicious loaf of French bread from Hyannis’ Pain d’Avignon. Every Saturday on Ryder Street, visitors and year-rounders alike can find something at the Provincetown Farmer’s market.
From the Author: We go every Saturday for amazing balsamic vinegar, a plant for our garden, fresh sustainable fish, and a bag or two of the best kettle corn in the world!
