Description:

This exhibit is called “The Legacy of Michigan Football: Collection of a Superfan” and there are three large rooms of memorabilia on display to prove it.  These items are on loan from Ken Magee, who has been collecting these items since he was 6 years old.  He is also the owner of the Ann Arbor Sports Memorabilia Shop.

This exhibit runs through December 1, 2013.

You can see game day programs from past eras, a Little brown Jug replica, several uniforms belonging to star players, many newspaper articles that tell stories of the glory days of star athletes over the years, and a 1920s blue-and-yellow clarinet from the marching band.  However, the most prized item on display is the program from the first Rose Bowl game.  That’s when Michigan defeated Stanford 49-0.  This 40 page, charcoal gray program is one of four still believed to exist, according to Ken Magee.

The Museum on Main Street is a restored 1830s house that features rotating exhibits showcasing the history of Washtenaw County. It is open noon to 4pm Saturdays and Sundays.

From the Author: When I visited this exhibit and I was amazed at all there was to see. Just reading the newspaper articles about various games and star athletes was so interesting. There are also stories and photos about the original building of Michigan stadium. If you bleed maize and blue, you won't want to miss this exhibit.
