Description:
The birds are coming! The birds are coming! The birds are coming in by the millions! Celebrate our warm weather coming back and enjoy the amazing variety of migratory fowl right here in Fairbanks, Alaska. This event focuses on the incoming flocks that flood the fields of Creamer’s Wildlife Refuge. Take a leisurely walk along the wonderful nature trails through fields. Listen to lectures on the extensive distance the birds take to arrive this far north. Get behind some of the binoculars provided to get a close up view of such varieties of birds as Canadian geese, trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, peregrine falcons, thrushes, sparrows and the list goes on. This event incorporates the on-going migration of amazing numbers of birds with the on-set of spring in the Interior. Scheduled talks and walks start at noon on May 3, and continue throughout the afternoon until 4 pm. The good news is, you start seeing the birds come in now in April and throughout the month of May.
