Description:

Spectacular views join you at Oakstone Winery, high on one of the many hills in Fair Play. Maybe, just maybe, one of these great sunsets will be seen when you stop by the Port & Chocolate Festival Saturday and Sunday, December 7th & 8th from 11 – 5. When you arrive there will be bright smiling faces for a warm holiday welcome. If you have not visited Oakstone before they will make you feel right at home and the nicest people make you comfortable. Of course, the wonderful chocolate truffles, home made dark chocolate bark in two flavors– red chili flake with nutmeg for a nice spicy chocolate and pistachio with macadamia nuts pair beautifully with the ports. They will also serve port drizzled brownie bites and assorted cheeses with baguettes– french brie, Point Reyes bleu and a dry white cheddar .

A new release of the 2012 Petite Sirah Port along with their sister winery Obscurity Cellars’ Charbono, Tempranillo, Malbec, Primitivo and Alicante Bouschet ports are the fantastic ports paired with the chocolates and cheeses.

A limited number of elegantly gift boxed Obscurity Cellars library wines–2006 Alicante Bouschet paired with the 2006 Charbono and the 2005 Malbec paired with the 2007 Sangiovese will be available for you to get someone for a great Christmas gift. The much anticipated 2011 Oakstone Tempranillo will also be released and available at long last.

As always, everyone is invited and there is no charge to attend. Liz & Steve Ryan, owners, want to spread holiday cheer and celebrate the holiday season with everyone. Stop by and wish them a Merry Christmas.

From the Author: The Port & Chocolate Festival has been a favorite of Lucinda and I for many years. Like most things there are changes to this years festival. The chocolate fountain of past years has been retired and replaced with the individual servings of the selection of chocolates. The mess of the fountain and chocolate dripping on everyone's holiday finest is gone. We have enjoyed the port pairing, but the best part of the event is the holiday cheer and great people. Since Lucinda's Country Inn is just 2 miles down the road we have been known to linger and celebrate. The barrel room will be warmed with smiling face and lots of laughter to help you celebrate the new Holiday Season.
