Description:

Aberdeen Polo: May 18, 2014 Time: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Venture out on a beautiful, late spring day to Camden, South Carolina, where you can enjoy the second oldest polo field in the nation. Designed and erected in 1898, this polo field has been declared a National Landmark and is held in perpetual trust by the Palmetto Trust for Historic Preservation.

Every year in May, the historic field comes alive as two regional polo teams vie for the Aberdeen Cup. The event provides entertainment for all ranges of spectators – from the avid polo fan to the casual tailgater. You need not be a well-educated polo game master, you just need to attire yourself for a sunny afternoon and enjoy some of the most magnificent polo horses that exist. The riders are fun, too. And, there will be refreshments galore.

For the first time, the Polo Match is being hosted by Camden’s own, Jack Brantley and Aberdeen Catery. Aberdeen Catery is known throughout the SE as the gourmet devine! Gates open at 11:00 am and the match starts at 1:00 pm at the Camden Polo Field. Tickets may be purchased at Aberdeen Catery, PO Box 56, Camden, SC 29021 or the Chronicle-Independent, 909 W. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020. Reservations must be made/tickets purchased by May 9, 2014. The event will be held rain or shine.
