Description:

The University of North Carolina Asheville will again play host to the 24th Annual Organic School Spring Conference 2017.
This event is rife with every kind of knowledge anyone interested in organics could possibly want to learn. Asheville, North Carolina, well established in the field to table tradition lives and breaths organics. Due to the popularity of this conference, the largest, locally run program of its kind on the east coast for both locals and visitors alike, early registration is highly recommended. All the workshops, classes, seed exchanges and information are available on the site and registration can be easily accomplished online.

This conference has every kind of element you can image. It is their mission to engage early with kids spreading the “organics trend.” In keeping with this mission statement, there are great kid friendly classes as well as hands on offerings for kids. One very popular kid option is called The Forest Floor Wilderness Program in which staff engage with the kids bring them to nature through stories, outdoor safety guidelines, birds sounds, being able to recognize plants and more. If it is your mission that your children understand the earth- nature-food-table interaction you couldn’t do better than this program. There are robust vendor opportunities as well.

Whether your own zen is mushrooms, composting, vermiculture, permaculture, goats, chickens, best organic growing practices, workshops, seed identification or the many opportunities for hearing nationally recognized speakers on organics- this conference delivers. There are also pre-conference classes beginning Friday from 9:30-4:30 p.m. (Registration is a must)

This conference can be scheduled as an entire bulk of classes, workshops, speakers, etc. or if the interest is there, but the time simply isn’t, selection of a specific day is also an option. I can think of nothing you would want to explore in the multi-layered land of organics that you will not be able to seek out in this yearly Asheville tradition where we all come to Mother nature as students in the beautiful early Spring of Asheville. An easy 10 minute walk from our inn will find you right in the middle of the action. Trust me, I attended a workshop last year and the excitement is contagious!

From the Author: After a long winter, gray skies and bleak landscape this festival is so green, so much fun and so completely informative though frost date here is May 10, you'll really have to talk to yourself not to run to the plant store forthwith.
