Description:

Lewiston has been looking for a way to let people know that we do not shut down and hibernate in the winter months.  We celebrate life year round.

Did you know that it is believed that the very first cocktail was served in Lewiston?  It seems some soldiers came to town and stopped at Catherine (Kitty) Husslers Tavern for a chance to come in out of the cold and enjoy a warming libation.  At the time the bar was low on spirits so Mrs Hussler combined some of her alcoholic beverages and stirred the mix with the feather from a cock and served it to the men.  When asked what she thought she was serving them, she replied “a Cocktail” and so the tradition of mixing grain beverages to get new tastes was begun.

What better way to commemorate this heritage than with the second annual Lewiston Cocktail Festival. Come on down on March 7-8th, 2014 as Lewiston offers food and libation as well as accommodations for these nights of celebration!

This year the theme is going to be prohibition as Lewiston has it’s share of prohibition stories as well.

If you don’t have a place to stay, give us a call at Sunny’s Roost Bed and Breakfast right here in Lewiston!
