Description:

Friday December 5th, 2014  at 7 pm you are cordially invited to Hennepin Park at the corner of South 4th  and Center Streets for the annual lighting of the Christmas Tree.  There will be a few performances by local children and the crowd will invited to join in a selection of holiday songs.

Saturday December 6th, 2014 at around 11 am Santa arrives by helicopter to Academy Park and makes his way down Center Street by horse drawn carriage to the Peace Garden where he will visit with the children before heading over to the Olde Time Barber Shop where he stops for a trim.  Snippets of Santa’s beard will go to a few lucky children who are present when the barber plies his trade. The Grinch,  Rudolph and Frosty will be out and about to visit with all the children, asking if they have been good or bad.  There will be a petting zoo at Hennepin Park.

Stop to shop the  small independently owned shops all along the Lewiston Christmas Walk.  Village stores will have specials, treats, drawings and Christmas music to put you in the holiday mood. When you need a break, stop and listen to the carolers in front of Mangia Cafe and Bakery across from the church on Center Street, or take a complimentary carriage ride from in front of Ft Niagara Bank.

If you have your letter to Santa ready to mail, use the red and green mailbox between Angel to Apple and Town Hall Bistro (and 451 and 453  Center Street respectively).  Any letters placed in the box before December 19 will receive a response before Christmas.

The Brickyard will have an area set up for decorating a Graham Cracker House from noon to 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday. There is a $5 fee to cover cost of supplies.   Keep the spirit of giving alive and stop by Coldwell Banker Integrity with new and unwrapped gifts to be given to needy families in the area.  You may also drop off  nonperishable food and gift cards.

The Historical Association of Lewiston will once again sponsor their Tour of Homes fundraiser  from 10 AM to 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday.  A total of four homes and the Lewiston Historical Museum have been chosen, specially decorated by some of Western New York’s premier designers and put on display.

The Lewiston Museum will be adorned for the season with a splendidly decorated Christmas tree and have greens and candle light throughout. While you are there you can take a moment to check out the exhibits on local history and get up close and personal with artifacts from Lewiston’s past. Re-enactors will be decked out in period clothing and will be available for photo opportunities. The Museum Store will also be open offering locally themed books, ornaments, and Lewiston treasures. Don’t miss the Petite Antique Sale both days!

Included with your ticket is a visit to the Barton Hill Hotel where holiday deserts are provided by two of Lewiston’s premier bakeries: The Village Bake Shoppe and DiCamillo’s and a Poinsettia Cocktail.  The Tour of Homes is the major fund raiser for the Historical Association so there is a small cost, check the website listed below  for ticket locations.  Only 2000 tickets will be sold, so get yours early.  A trolley ride is provided for your convenience making a continuous circuit from the Village Hall, or choose to take a map and take the route on your own.

This event is always a lot of fun!
