Description:

Hogs for the Cause returns to City Park the weekend of March 27-28, 2015, its eighth year.  Hey, y’all, it is for a good cause, and it’s not just about pigs.  The “Cause” is helping to defray the expenses of families with children with pediatric brain cancer, and who couldn’t get behind that?

City Park comes alive with the sound of-music, yeah, and of course, smoke!  The music lineup is pretty awesome, eight bands on two stages. Drive-By Truckers? George Porter, Jr. and the Runnin Pardners?   That fantastic retro blues/soul band, King James and the Special Men?   All there!

But of course the samplings of barbecue from local backyard cooks, professional chefs and barbecue teams are what most of us long for on a balmy March spring day. Over 80 teams compete to be named the Louisiana pork champion.   There’s a gala dinner on March 26, 2015 with chefs from the Link Restaurant Group and friends offering Mediterranean Street Fare. Kids under 12 attend Hogs for the Cause for free.

It’s a festival with smaller crowds than some in New Orleans, but with quality food and music programming, and all really for a good cause—plus it hits the sweet spot in terms of weather scheduling-not too hot yet in March, and rain or shine!
