The evening of Saturday, October 4th, will be filled with great aroma, sounds of music, dancing and fun and laughter at Gwinllan Estate Winery. Their Harvest Celebration will be in full swing with line dancing with Sarah Stokes at 7:30pm. Of course there will be great wines to imbibe. The 2014 harvest of the grapes is in and now is the time to celebrate the great effort of the pickers and winemaker. The pickers are done, the winemaker is just starting his weeks of intense efforts with fermenting and barreling the infantile wines. Some of the wines go into cold storage for their processing. There’s a lot of varietals and styles of wines, so the winemaker is busy making his wine and keeping his accurate records for every step of the process.
At the celebration you will have BBQ Ribs, cornbread, cloeslaw, beans and the things that make a great down-home party to celebrate the harvest. To join the celebration it is just $20 for wine club members, $25 for all others and it fun-filled from 6:00-10:00pm.
From the Author: The Pack family is perfect for the Fair Play Wine Country. Having been grape growers in England, they brought that expert knowledge to Fair Play where they make excellent wines. With Jonathan the viticulturist and consultant, Gordon the winemaker and Chris the operations manger the division of labor shows expertly in the end products of their efforts. Each of them has talent that can only be measured by their exquisite wines. Jonathan used to work with Perry Creek Winery while Gwillan Estates was developed. Lucinda & I got to know him through that venue before his new endeavors took him away from Perry Creek. Gwillan Estates is only about two miles away from Lucinda's Country Inn, so it is great to work together to offer Fair Play visitors a true adventure in the Fair Play Wine Country.
