Downtown in the center of Fairbanks right along the Chena River, you’ll find Golden Heart Park, filled with paths, monuments, a fountain, and benches for enjoying the center of town. Every Monday in June, July and August you will find fun and food at the Fairbanks Downtown Market in the Park.

If you find yourself downtown wining and dining between 4-8, you should take time to stop and shop at this weekly event. With everything from fresh local produce and espresso coffee to moose and antler wearable art and building blocks for the kids to play with, the rotating vendors will surprise you with great gifts and handy gadgets. Enjoy the diverse and unique handmade items, or freshly picked foods from gardens such as Calypso Farm and Ecology Center or Johnson’s Family Farm (hydroponic).

Bask in the warmth of the midnight sun; hang out by the fountain in the center of the Golden Heart Plaza; visit with locals and savor the sights and sounds of summer. You will note that many will just come to relax and listen. In addition to the shopping a wide variety of local musicians provide free entertainment.
