The Blending of the Waters Gala is the first event of the Cape Cod Canal Centennial celebrations over the 2014 Spring to Fall Season. The historical significance of this April event is that in April of 1914 the waters from Cape Cod Bay and Buzzards Bay were first co-mingled as the construction of the Cape Cod Canal neared completion.
The blending of the waters gala celebration is going to be held at Massachusetts Maritime Academy with lots of wonderful food and entertainment. There will be a number of educational displays providing both written and pictorial history.
Some of the other events that are planned during the centennial celebration include a tug boat parade, a boat parade of lights, a spectacular fireworks that is rumored to be staged of one of the iconic cape cod canal bridges, music festivals, a visit from the Charles W. Morgan tall ship and much more.
