Description:

The home was built by Marion County’s first County Extension officer when he moved to town. In 1911, Mr. Craver and his brother constructed the house. When the building was completed, it was a single story home with porches on both the front and the back for cooling off on hot summer days.

Over the years the house has had several owners and has been updated a few times with the latest being in the 1990s, when three bedrooms (which are now guest rooms), en suite bathrooms, and a hallway were added to the upstairs. The White Oak Manor Bed and Breakfast was opened shortly afterward in the mid-1990s.

The current owners of the White Oak Manor Bed and Breakfast have updated the décor to include many modern amenities guests are looking for and some they find unexpectedly delightful. Some items have been retained in keeping with the historic nature of the home. Each room is designed for guest comfort and satisfaction. Every room has a large flat screen TV with DVD player, Wi-Fi throughout, coffee makers, refrigerators, and electric fireplaces.

The White Oak tree standing in the front yard was the inspiration for the name of the home today. This tree is thought to be about 200 years old. The shade the tree provides is welcome during the summer months, and when the seasons change to cool nights, it provides brilliant fall colors to enjoy.
