In 1970 a couple of crafty guys who wanted to create beautiful and functional furniture from antique salvage decided to set up shop in an old barn and cranberry sorting building across the street from a railroad depot in the tiny hamlet of West Barnstable on Cape Cod. Since its inception, West Barnstable Tables has produced magnificent dining tables, sideboards, hutches, cupboards, and chairs from salvaged buildings, boats, and whatnot while maintaining the unique character of the original wood. Today 14 crafts people share a common philosophy of staying true to the early tradition of furniture making while also tackling the demand for more contemporary pieces using new hardwoods. Each piece is handcrafted and exhibits the individual artist’s distinctive design style. Their reputation for quality keeps their work in high demand. Whimsical folk art and sculptures crafted from found objects complete the array of gorgeous furniture on display in the showroom. The showroom is open daily from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
