Description:

The concept of Vittles is to serve “down-home” food. The emphasis here is on using fresh ingredients to create real food and almost everything is made from scratch. Even the potato chips are made each morning! The Baily’s Irish cream milk chocolate ice cream is a real favorite.

Vittles is open for breakfast and lunch daily, and dinner is served on Friday and Saturday nights with the dinner menu changing weekly. To tempt your taste buds, here is a teaser of what you might find on the menu: “5 spice seared duck with a blackberry wine reduction sauce”, a crab and asparagus tortilla pizza, Cajun mac-n-cheese or beef stroganoff. You never know.

Breakfast is served until 11 a.m. and Vittles offers everything from eggs and omelets to Belgian waffles. Lunch features wraps, soups, chili, salads and sandwiches. Fresh ground beef is purchased daily for their char-grilled burgers.

Located in the center of Pittsfield, Maine the restaurant is less than a half-mile from I-95 exit 150. Their century-old building features a 14 foot tin ceiling with a comfortable and non-pretentious atmosphere.

Vittles fine food is known in the area as the “healthy choice”. If you find yourself in central Maine, get a bite to eat at a local gem.

From the Author: Vittles is wonderful. I'd actually go as far as saying that its the best food, taste and value wise that you are going to find anywhere within an hour of the restaurant. I've eaten there numerous times. Every meal has always been perfect. How often can you actually say that?? Every meal, every time is perfect. They love visitors from out of town, treating all comers superbly. Advanced reservations insure quick seating without waiting in the queue during their busiest periods. Your local innkeeper might even be able to help with an occasional late seating on special request. Vittles is just a 3 minute drive off I-95 at exit 150. Its a perfect stopping off point for guests heading into Dexter. Highly recommended.
