Description:
One of my favorite places to have breakfast in Seattle is this great cafe in the Ravenna neighborhood, located in the back of Third Place Books. This means that while you wait for a table you can peruse the bookstore and a great bookstore it is.
But this review is all about Vios, the food and the ambiance. While certainly a family place (they even have a play area for kids) a quiet adult breakfast can be had by sitting in the back section by the window or better yet, outside on the patio. They have the usual traditional breakfast, you know the egg, bacon, and potatoes, but by far the specialties here are the Greek style breakfasts and the specials. A great hash with veggies and potatoes and poached egg is a standard here as are the baked eggs in a tomato feta sauce (that is to die for). Served with toasted bread from the Columbia bakery, this is usually my go to favorite, but this morning the special called me and sparked this review. A creamy, puffy well seasoned polenta cake sat on top of a homemade tomato sauce and on top of the cake was a perfectly poached egg. A light salad, and made in house Italian chicken sausage were served on the side. It was awesome!
It should be noted here that while I am an egg person, this place also has great pastries, and wonderful coffee. Weekend brunch features, breakfast and lunch entrees so there is something for everyone, and they have Gelato!
