Take a step back in time and explore the history of the quaint little river town of Elsah, Illinois. Envision what nineteenth century life was like along the Mississippi and witness the spirit of the town and of the past residents who helped to shape it.
Located in the Elsah Village Hall, which was erected in 1887, the Village of Elsah Museum tells the story of the small, quaint town, beginning with its founding by James Semple in 1853 to the present.
The museum features several displays, countless artifacts, seasonal photography exhibits, and more. Visitors will encounter exhibits encompassing the varied architectural styles that are found throughout the town, as well as tools and other instruments used by past residents. But, there is much more to experience at the museum and in the town of Elsah, itself.
The museum is open 1 – 4 pm every Friday through Sunday from April until October. There is no charge to visit the museum.
