On Placerville’s Historic Main St., this is a local favorite for enjoying a glass of wine or a bottle of premium beer. The Wine Smith-Wine & Beer Boutique carries an extensive selection of El Dorado County wines; after-all it is in El Dorado County. At the wine bar you can order some wine by the glass or bottle and some beer on tap or by the bottle. The friendly staff will share their knowledge of the wines and wineries or beers and breweries so you can get exactly what you want.
Shelly Winzeler, owner, has put together a wide array of accessories for your wine enjoyment. There are items from wine opening toys, wine storage toys or wine carrying items to sequin T-Shirts with cute little sayings like “This Wine is Making Me Awesome” to picnic bags and bunches of cheeses and salamis to fill your picnic bag. In her chiller is a wide selection of ICE flavored waters and cold wine & beer for you to enjoy.
When you walk in the door you’ll see a wall long wine rack. There are about 500 wines to choose from. Wines from Fair Play, Camino, Placerville, Amador County and other little known wine areas of California. If you like the off the beaten path to find a true gems in the wilderness or places to visit and enjoy, The Wine Smith is that diamond everyone hopes to find just laying in plain sight.
From the Author: The Wine Smith is our "watering hole" when we finish doing our business shopping for the day. We stop in here about once a week to say hi to Shelly, the owner, or her assistants Julie or Jacquie. At times this place is really hopping. It's common to have 30-40 people crowded around the tables sucking on their wine or beer. Shelly has a local guy with his private stash of cigars that when the weather is good he'll go on the back patio to enjoy his favorite stoggies.
