A small town in Vermont is never complete without its general store, and Warren lives up to that requirement.  The Warren Store on Main Street doesn’t sell everything, but it does have a great selection of the important things, particularly in the food and drink area!

The Main Street through Warren is a detour from Route 100 so there is minimal through traffic in the town center. Parking is easy, and it’s very pleasant to just walk around as everything is very close. The town center straddles the Warren Brook, which flows into the nearby Mad River, and a short walk takes you by the quintessential white-painted church, the Fire Hall, the Library, the Post Office and a neat gazebo with a brass bell.

The Warren Store is right beside the bridge over The Brook and the main floor is all about food and drink.  You will find lots of Vermont artisanal produce, including our local (and famous) Lawson’s Finest Liquids produced in a nano-brewery nearby. Walk through to the back and you will find a team behind the counter ready to make sandwiches to order; our favorite is Smoke on the Water which is a smoked salmon sandwich. You will also find a variety of pastries and cookies, and lots of other goodies.  Coffee and cold drinks are also available.

Before you order lunch however, walk up the stairs to the second floor of the store and you will be presented with a wide variety of jewelry, leather goods, clothing and collectibles; you are sure to find something that you really must take home with you! Note that the store often has end of season sales in the fall after foliage and in the spring after skiing season.

When you head back outside looking for ideas of what else to do, you will find the public notice board with posters on upcoming events and other interesting reading!  You will also want to walk through the Parade Gallery next door, a co-op exhibiting paintings and photos by local artists.
