Looking for some interesting spices and teas?  Then try the The Spice Diva on West Main Street in Charlottesville VA.  While the store has been open for over a year now I had not gotten around to visiting the store until recently.  When you first walked in you are immediately hit with the most wonderful fragrances of all the herbs and spices.   They offer a full line of individual herbs and spices plus many mixtures as well – everything from allspice to Wasabi powder.  If you need an exotic spice/herb they probably have that as well – ajwan seed to Za’atar.  One thing I really liked is that their products are ground within a week of shipping and never treated with pesticides.

Phyllis Hunter, the owner, offers up great advice on how to use and store the different herbs, spices and extracts that she sells.  The Spice Diva was founded by Phyllis and her family and has been a family project since it’s beginning.

The “Diva” part of this family business came about because Phyllis was an opera singer for many years, having sung in opera houses in the U S and Europe.  “You can take the diva out of the opera, but she never stops being a diva.”
