Locally owned for over 25 years, this is “the” local paddling shop that is open year-round, providing visitors and locals alike with literature, information, equipment, sundries and cold drinks for your day out (and ice cream for when you come back!). They sell and teach about gear and items for playing on the water whether it be inflatable kayaks, hardshell boats, stand up boards, or life vests for the kids wading with you in the river. Manager Gigi McBee and owner Dan Crandall are well known in the local and boating community, teaching kayaking skills as well as selling boating and outdoor items. They are open every day during the summer, and weekends year-round.

They are stocking up for the season with guidebooks on local and area hiking, biking, and equestrian trails (including dog-friendly trails). You can buy books on the history of the area, gold panning guides and pans, and maps. It’s a convenient place to pick up things you might need like sunglasses and sunscreen, snacks and drinks, clothing layers and hats, and key fobs, waterproof cases, and other items that will ease your day. They also sell consignment jewelry, locally made art, and dresses for that extra bit of fun.

The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. This is their passion, the outdoors and water recreation, and helping people get out and have safe fun! They have a wealth of knowledge about local lakes, rivers, and hikes. They can refer you to Sierra lake and whitewater kayak classes and outings, too – just ask!
