Description:
If you’re visiting the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park, don’t miss its fantastic Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The lovely outdoor garden comprises five landscaped acres that are divided in half by a lagoon. One side, closer to the museum building, has old-growth magnolias and pines; the other has the massive live oaks the park is famous for. The sculptures are scattered throughout both sides, creating a soothing space to wander.
The outdoor collection contains more than 60 sculptures featuring many of the world’s most renowned artists, such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Deborah Butterfield, and Isamu Nagoogi.
The sculpture garden is open daily and entrance to it is free. Take your time strolling through the lush space, and if you feel like it, stop into the Café NOMA afterwards for a light lunch or snack. Sitting in the courtyard provides even more outdoor bliss.
