Description:

When I walk through the door of Stone’s Throw, I immediately feel happy. Yes, this is one of the numerous galleries in Bayfield. Yes, the owner is one of a number of very talented artists in the area. But there is simply something about the place, the building, the displays that make me happy. This shop is obviously a focal point for owner and potter, Andy Falconer. She does incredible art. But she also has created a collection of a wide range of art – ranging from prints to jewelry to glass work and more. Color is everywhere. Local and regional artists are featured throughout.

The entrance of the store is on Second St., one of Bayfield’s historic brick streets. The creative displays and sitting spots send a very clear message: “Welcome.” The building itself is one of the older buildings in town, harkening back to days long gone.

Prices at Stone’s Throw are right on track. If looking for gifts to take back home, you will be sure to find something unique and affordable. Unique wine goblets for that bride and groom. Watercolor of the Mainland Sea Caves to remind you of your kayaking on Lake Superior. A lovely woven rug to take home and enjoy for years to come. And take the time to chat with Andy or any of her staff. They can certainly tell you the “story” behind each piece.

So if visiting Bayfield, don’t miss Stone’s Throw – just a stone’s throw from the beach!

From the Author: An easily missed section of Stone’s Throw is the upstairs balcony. Wander up the steps and you will find a wide array of fiber items. Weaving is big in our area, and many regional weavers are happy to offer their items in this section: rugs, clothing, bags, and more. As a weaver myself, I usually spend a good 30 minutes checking out the weaving techniques and colors.
