Lancaster County is considered the Garden Spot of America and the Lancaster Central Market showcases many of these entrepreneurs who tirelessly grow the produce on their farms.

One of these is John & Ethel Stoner whose Stoner Veggies stand is stocked each Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday morning when the market is open. John & Ethel have been growing and selling top quality produce on their farm since 1965. Their stand has been operating nearly 120 years with generations of Stoner’s carrying on the tradition of going to market with their produce.

Fresh produce abounds – from lettuces, brussel sprouts, arugula, several varieties of heirloom tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries to name a few. Restaurant owners flock to the stand for the freshness desired for their local farm to table experience that they want to offer to their guests.

The produce is carefully produced and hand-picked back on their farm near Strasburg, PA with the help of Elmer, an Amish neighbor who is also seen at the market stand which he manages alongside the Stoner’s and some of his siblings and Amish neighbors.

When in the area on market days, be sure to stop and fill up a shopping bag of “freshness” to take home with you.
