SAIL THE SCHOONER ALERT

Captains Perry & Bethany own and charter 2 very lovely and different yachts, the graceful schooner Alert and their traditional ketch, Tevake! Sail from Cook’s Restaurant pier on Bailey Island, just over the granite bridge from Orrs Island, east of Harpswell Neck. This classic rocky peninsula and islands, are really the first rugged glacial remnant we all think of as “the real Maine coast.” You will sail from the protected waters of Merriconeag Sound, out into the outer islands of Casco Bay.

For a number of years they have chartered their 31’ Mariner ketch, Tevake on daysails out of this area. Last fall, they were able to acquire the schooner of their dreams, Alert. She is a handsome 70’ overall, with teak decks and a comfortable cabin. You may be lucky enough to share company with their baby and/or dog on your sail. They offer a range of adventures, from 2 hours, to a full day (6 hour) charter. On the latter, you may picnic on Jewell Island and get a taste of the edge of the Gulf of Maine. In any case, they welcome your participation in sailing Alert! Share their love for the coast of Maine on a very personal taste of the downeast life.

For an even more intimate sail, climb aboard Tevake, the couple’s personal yacht, in which Perry and Bethany sailed the Caribbean together! Tevake will carry a maximum of 6 guests, and would be perfect for a couple or small family! Make sure to call ahead to make your sailing plans!
