Description:

The Old Sautee Market, adjacent to the Old Sautee Store, is just the place in Sautee Nacoochee for a hearty sandwich, bowl of homemade soup or a scoop of old fashioned Mayfield ice cream.

The Old Sautee Market, with its distinctive grass covered roof, has been serving hungry travelers for 10 years at the junction of Hwy 17 and Hwy 255.  This is by far a favorite little dine-in-deli for locals and visitors to the area.  Known for fresh, homemade breads and pastries, sandwiches are made to order, including vegetarian sandwiches and a Panini sandwich-of-the-day.  And there is always a delicious and creative soup-of-the-day.  The French Onion soup is a specialty!  If you have a bigger appetite, the soup-sandwich combo is very satisfying.

They also carry the Old Sautee Store’s famous Farmer’s Cheese for your sandwich or as a soup topping. Wash it all down with a large glass of fresh brewed Southern Sweet Ice Tea, a old fashioned cream soda or a specialty bottled tea.  The fresh baked sweets like cookies and dessert bars, visible in the glass bakery counter, are a great way to round out a meal at the market.

You can dine in, eat outside on the patio under the large oak trees, or take your orders to go.  Be sure to check out their selection of crackers, packages of the Old Sautee Stores famous Farmer’s Cheese, jams, jellies and relishes to take along for a snack later.

From the Author: The herbed chicken salad is the best I've ever had, loaded with lots of chicken and just a hint of garlic. Yum! Goes great on a fresh baked croissant or the flavor-packed Garden bread.
