Description:

Typically referred to as the “visitor’s center,” this building serves more aptly as its name implies: a cultural center in addition to the Fairbanks Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and Public Lands Information Center. Packed with information about interior Alaska, you will find you need to budget your time because there is so much to take in. Fairbanks, its people and the Athabaskan people in the interior are portrayed through multi-faceted media, videos, kiosks, theatre, and displays of all kinds. Even as a local, I discovered there was great attention to detail about how Fairbanks came to be the city it is today, while still providing a great overview of the vastness that is Alaska.
With many displays that explain subsistence and survival skills of the Athabaskan Indian culture, you will appreciate the stamina, perseverance, and ingenuity of just one of many tribes that inhabit different regions of the state.
The friendly staff is more than willing to go out of their way to make sure that your visit is enjoyable. The center is open 7 days a week, 8 am to 5 pm (winter); 8 am to 9 pm (summer).
