McFadden Tree Farm in Strasburg, Ohio is owned and operated by Rev. Douglas McFadden and family.  The Christmas tree farm is in its 27th year of operation.  You can visit the farm Thursday and Friday from 4 pm –  6 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10 am-6 pm.  Put on your boots, coat, hat, and mittens and walk around the farm in search of the perfect Christmas tree.  When you find the perfect tree the employees at McFadden Tree Farm will cut it down, put it on the wagon, shake all the loose needles and leaves out, put it through the baler, and load it in your vehicle.

Before you leave, stop into the barn for coffee, cookies, and coloring books for the kids.  A gift shop is located in the barn offering handmade crafts and supplies to help your Christmas tree thrive through the holiday season.  For 50-cents you can have a letter from Santa sent to that special child.  Enjoy the scent of a fresh picked Christmas tree in your house this year.  Do not forget to bring the camera for pictures of the tree searching event.

McFadden’s Tree Farm grows four different types of evergreens.  The Blue Spruce has good needle retention, stiff branches and is a bluish color, a good tree for heavy ornaments, $40/each.  The Scotch Pine is an old favorite, medium needles and stiff branches, $32/each.  The White Pine has long soft needles and good retention, $32/each.  Finally, the Canaan Fir a cross between Fraser and Balsam, with soft short needles, $30/each.
