David & Dan Kleban started serving up beer in 2009, moving from their garage to Portland, to their new facility in Freeport in April of 2013.  Although Maine Beer Company’s major focus is on crafting hoppy American ales, they also produce many other varieties of ale, a porter and a fine stout. Unlike some microbreweries whose focus is on their own pub operations, which only sell “take-outs” in grauwilers, Maine Beer Company is a producer of bottled beers. They do sell regionally and several fine local establishments in Freeport also serve their products, such as Azure Café, Conundrum, Linda Bean’s and Bow Street Market. All great spots in which to spend time when in Freeport!

Now to the fun part! Maine Beer Company does have a Tasting Room on premise, from which one has an excellent panorama of the brewing floor and operations. They always offer 8 current choices on tap, as well as a choice of fine locally sourced snacks. The Tasting Room is open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 7PM, and Sundays till 5PM.

Dave & Dan are all about “doing what’s right,” and about treating their employees like family. The guys take pride in giving back 1% of their annual gross income to “the Earth and the creatures that live on it.”
